Within the last few years we have seen how cellular phones have evolved into mini computers called smart phones. And we have also seen how laptop manufacturers gave birth to laptop mini-me's. Why computer mini's came into being can be pointed to mobile professionals like real estate agents.
So, which should you choose, a smart phone or a cellular phone? While smart phones allow you to browse the Internet, check email, they tend to strain the two thumbs needed to type a message. This is because they have small LCD screens. Netbooks, on the other hand, compete with smart phones like full-fledged computers (and they are), what with their seven-inch to ten-inch screens. And they are not at all that expensive. Most netbooks are priced the same or even less than some fancy smart phones. And since you get can get your netbook subsidized by cell phone network providers, the cost is even lower. AT&T and Verizon now sell netbooks $99 with a two-year contract.
Of course, the only thing against netbooks is that you really can't treat it like a mobile phone when it comes to calling clients or sending them text messages. Although you can send text messages or call over Skype from your netbook, it's not really possible to make calls from inside your car through your netbook. That being said, netbooks and cellular phones complement each other.
With netbooks and cellular phones, you can take the concept of "mobile professional" to a whole new level. You can do all the necessary office work inside a coffee shop while waiting for a client to arrive.
