PaylPal NFC payments in Brazil between Nokia 701 and Nokia N9 (Video)

In Brazil, the mobile payments using Near Field Communication(NFC) should soon be reality. In collaboration with Pagseguro, Nokia and PayPal, are currently working to enable NFC payments on Symbian and Meego smartphones.


Waiting for Nokia to reveal more information and hoping to soon see these features on Symbian and MeeGo in other parts of the world.

Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 beta gets new update to improve performance

The Nokia Beta Labs have just released a new update of Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 beta application suite that includes Nokia Maps, Nokia and Nokia Drive Public Transport. The upgrade does not make a significant improvement of the features available, but should improve overall performance and experience of the app.
Nokia Maps Suite  2.0 changelog:
"There are no new features in this release but simply around usability and performance enhancements"
"There were no new features introduced with this release, but a simple improvement of usability and performance"
The latest update follows the one released in late February that it has introduced improvements to Nokia Maps is that to Weather.
Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 beta can be used with Nokia smartphones Belle comprising: Nokia600, 603, 700, 701, N8-00, E7-00, C7-00, C6-01, Astound, Gold, X7-00, E6-00.

Future updates still coming to 1st generation Symbian^3 devices

The update to Symbian Belle FP 1 will be available only for Nokia 603, 700 and 701 , but the first generation of smartphones S ^ 3 will not be abandoned.

As has happened in the past months with the S60 5th edition, Nokia said on its support forum that the N8, E7, E6, X7, 500, C6 and C7-01 will continue to receive updates and bug fixes.

So, always hoping in community work, the first generation of S ^ 3 will still be supported in a formal way for a long time.

Nokia has announced that Microsoft Apps, list of productivity apps from Microsoft are now rolling out for Belle smartphones. Now the owners of Nokia E7, Nokia C7, C6-01 Nokia, Nokia X7, Nokia Gold Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 603 are able to download the first package of Microsoft Apps. Unfortunately Nokia N8, Nokia E6 and Nokia 500 will have to wait another few weeks.



List of Microsoft Apps with Symbian Belle
  • Microsoft OneNote – Enables you to create rich text notebooks using words and images. Syncs with Microsoft SkyDrive
  • Microsoft Lync 2010 Mobile – Cost efficient IM, presence, audio and web meetings on the go.
  • Microsoft Document Connection – Single view to documents stored on mobile, including email attachments as well as documents on SharePoint 2010 sites.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Broadcast – View broadcasts of presentations directly from PC to mobile. You can also combine these with Lync audio messages, too.

Microsoft Lync, One Note and Office available for Symbian Belle

Nokia announced that Microsoft Apps as Microsoft ® Lync Mobile ™ 2010, Microsoft OneNote ™, Microsoft PowerPoint ® and Microsoft Document Connection Broadcast (which provides access to Microsoft SharePoint) are now available on Symbian Belle. The mentioned app are available on all Symbian devices running Symbian Belle through Nokia Suite.



Today that this update has arrived for Symbian Belle devices like 603, 700, 701

This is first of two updates which brings the following apps, 

  • Microsoft OneNote, for detailed note-taking
  • Microsoft PowerPoint Broadcast, for showcasing your presentations over the internet 
  • Microsoft Document Connection, for managing files stored in the cloud 
  • Microsoft Lync 2010 Mobile, for staying connected with clients and colleagues 


The second update is promised in the first few months of 2012 and will bring native support for Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, the update will allow to easily create and edit Office files.
