Photosynth for Windows Phone is now available in WP Marketplace

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 | 00:34

Here comes the Windows Phone marketplace Photosynth, the popular Microsoft application that allows you to take and share pictures taken in landscape mode to 360 degrees.

Last year when Microsoft released  Photosynth for iPhone OS , many users wondered when it would arrive this on Windows Phone since David Gedey Photosynth Group Program Manager in charge of development of this software had declared that they were at work on the version for Windows Phone .
After one year, the popular app finally arrived in the Windows Phone Marketplace. Excellent fluidity and ease of use, Photosynth brings the device on our ability to take pictures in landscape mode both horizontally and vertically to have the effect of a "sphere". Once realized our shot, you can share it on Facebook and Twitter directly using the free service Photosynth.net or simply as an image.

Also you can publish your panoramas on Bing, where millions of people will see your panoramic, Maps, and Bing Bing search results for sites that you have captured.

The application needs gyro and compass to work correctly but devices that do not have these sensors, can use the app but it won't work perfectly each time.

Unfortunately, even in this case, the low-end devices with 256 MB of RAM memory can not install the application.

The application can be downloaded for free from the WP Marketplace.

Windows Phone Marketplace extends to 22 new countries

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, May 3, 2012 | 03:05

Although, Microsoft’s Windows Phone marketplace is far from the likes of the gigantic Apple app store and the Google Play store, in terms of both the number of apps and its reach, the latest news from the Windows Phone makers reveal that their marketplace is now available across 22 new countries. The web-based marketplace has now been made available for Windows phone users across Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela, UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Israel, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Microsoft also has plans on some making some improvements to its marketplace. It has decided to clean-up spam and reduce the noise level.

The Microsoft blog also reveals that a new clean-up initiative taken up by them will aim at putting an end to consumer complaints regarding app searches - when a user tries searching for an app by typing in a keyword or name, the expected app does not show up, thereby causing some inconvenience. The team has started reviewing the keywords that developers assign to their apps and are also removing the ones that aren’t relevant.

The blog also states that one will require Windows Phone 7.5 to buy, download, or update apps from Marketplace. The new requirement is said to be a part of the larger Marketplace improvement effort.

Windows Phone Marketplace: 82,000 applications available in the WP Marketplace

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 | 06:29

Bronze medal for Microsoft, although the level of sales has not yet become the third largest in the world of smart phones, with regard to applications exceeds Symbian and BlackBerry.
The two operating systems, in fact, count some 70,000 respectively Ovi app Store and App World and last month served to Windows Phone to break away from competitors thanks to 10,228 new app in March bringing the total count to 82,000.
The numbers are not yet sufficient to worry about Android and iPhone OS, respectively the second and third place with more than 450,000 and 550,000 app. The growth of the WP Marketplace, however, expect a continual progress, if it continues at current rates, will allow Windows Phone app to count in the catalog by 100,000 in May.
Going into detail of the various formats, the U.S. is still leading with 69,123 applications available for this market, while China, the last in time to debut with Windows Phone is stuck at 21,530.

Windows Phone Marketplace reached another milestone, 70,000 applications are now in the WP Marketplace

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, March 22, 2012 | 08:36

At the launch of Windows Phone with Tango in China, Simon Leung had "given numbers" on these applications on Windows Marketplace.
In fact 70,000 applications according to official figures that Microsoft announced that it has passed the milestone and is now launching to 100,000. Someone may have already heard, some time ago, have achieved this level but had not been officially disclosed by Microsoft and included applications that were removed as redundant or unsafe.
With regard to the numbers of growth has now come to 300 new applications per day, number expected to increase with expansion up to 63 different markets.
At the time the developers have registered more than 100,000 and for them has simplified the certification process to get the app in the Market: are only 3 days maximum needed to make his debut in the store. The interest of developers, although not as high as Android or IOS, is still growing, especially in view of the arrival of Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and the convergence between the systems.
