Jolla Mobile CEO Jussi Hurmola - “MeeGo is not dead”

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 | 07:49

The interest in the promising startups that is intended to preserve the legacy of MeeGo platforms continues to remain high, thanks to the increasing information that with each passing day becomes more and more and Jussi Hurmola, the CEO of La Jolla provided some additional insights on team projectsin a recent interview with The VoicemailMany statements reaffirming the initial impressions of a company formed by an excellent team, with clear ideas and a management team with ambitious goals, but always realistic.

The first important signal is sent to the community of supporters of the platform Meego that after the recent firmware update to 1.3 PR have begun to wonder what the fate of the operating system of Nokia N9 and if there are other important update of the platform. The CEO is clear in stating:
What we mean is that Meego is not dead
The operating system Meego will continue to be developed, but it is reasonable to ask how and what relationships exist between the activity of La Jolla and the platform of Nokia N9 Meego Harmattan. In this regard Hurmola states:
Swipe is a UI for Nokia. We will achieve a new UI, and the choice of MeeGo allows us to create something new
Although the new UI will not be that of the Harmattan Meego previous working relationship between Nokia and most of the team Team will produce their effects on future production of the newly formed startup. Also in this case the words of the CEO clarify this aspect:
Obviously we will inherit the powerful and popular tools Meego, but we will use them in our own way and not Nokia.
Personally I like the Nokia N9 ... I think we will be influenced by the UI in our project for N9
In a recent interview the number of La Jolla has not failed to provide further details on prodottori that concretely realize the hardware of the new terminal. In recent months Jolla has visited several Chinese suppliers, negotiations seem to be well under way and soon will be announced the names of the partners.
As previously emers, or the first smartphone Jolla will be presented later this year. The following projects will be made with proper caution Jolla:
Our principle is to be cautious, we do not want to promise things we can not do ... We have several projects right now, but we need to evaluate how it goes first before you commit future products
The staff of La Jolla is aware of the need to build not only a terminal, but an entire ecosystem and proves, therefore, open to all forms of collaboration:
Create an ecosystem has to do with the cooperation ... What we are doing is to bring together partners .. I am open to any cooperation. There are different forms of cooperation, of course, but the fundamental one is the growth of the ecosystem
Establish itself in the smartphone market obviously will not be easy, but we hope Jolla can carve out its space in the crowded landscape of mobile device manufacturers.

Windows Phone 8 vs. Android 4.1 vs. iPhone OS 6 - Characteristics compared

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Friday, July 6, 2012 | 05:05

The 3 main operating systems in the mobile world is evolving more and more, with features and functionality often similar but differently exploitable. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the latest release presented in chronological order and the only available now on the first terminal . To see iOS 6 and Windows Phone 8 because the work must wait a few months but, due to rumors and anticipations announced officially by Apple and Microsoft, is already possible to outline the general capabilities of the system and support the latest technologies.
RedmondPie did this updated comparison chart after the hot month of June which saw the three main contenders for the leadership of the sector, despite the ever-growing particularly depressed economic times. Actually, there are still some doubts about the true potential of these operating systems with Microsoft itself has confirmed that the status of the Project Windows Phone 8 is "working in progress" , IOS 6 in part revealed, but with some dark sides, to example on the support or less of the NFC chip.
Operating systems must equivalent offer the same basic functions with a few exceptions, from the UI with very different characteristics and approach (icons, icons + widgets, live tiles), supporting the aforementioned NFC, with a penalty for Microsoft App ecosystem is still limited to 100 000 (fast-growing but still objectively away from other stores already at an altitude of 600 000).
These and other features are summarized in the table below, which absolutely does not want to find a winner but it focuses on a precise and accurate diagram of all the major features that users want to have on your terminal, beyond the design and cost of the device to mount them, or will in the future. Here it is (waiting BB10):

Developer device running Tizen OS hands-on treatment (Video)

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 | 02:25

The new operating system developed by Samsung together with Intel, better known as Tizen,  continues its process of development and after seeing some tests in recent months and the first screenshot a few days ago.Now appeared the first hands-on video of a prototype of Tizen Phone that shows us for the first time the system in motion.
From the video that we reported below we can notice obvious similarities with the interface TouchWiz although the positioning system of applications is virtually identical to the homescreen of IOS. Even Tizen adopts a top bar displayed by sliding your finger down inside where we find the shortcut keys for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, autorotation, etc...

Top left is always present in every home screen a button that instantly returns to the homescreen.
In the prototype shown by the developer can not fail to note the presence of a single hardware button nestled round the bottom of the chassis, used as a sort of built-in system task manager, but that could change over the next developments in both functionality and As adoption of the hardware buttons.
Although it was not possible to conduct further tests of performance, the browser has the best record for a mobile device in a HTML5 sign optimization that Samsung wanted to put on the Internet navigation.
