Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Friday, July 6, 2012 | 05:05

The 3 main operating systems in the mobile world is evolving more and more, with features and functionality often similar but differently exploitable. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the latest release presented in chronological order and the only available now on the first terminal . To see iOS 6 and Windows Phone 8 because the work must wait a few months but, due to rumors and anticipations announced officially by Apple and Microsoft, is already possible to outline the general capabilities of the system and support the latest technologies.
RedmondPie did this updated comparison chart after the hot month of June which saw the three main contenders for the leadership of the sector, despite the ever-growing particularly depressed economic times. Actually, there are still some doubts about the true potential of these operating systems with Microsoft itself has confirmed that the status of the Project Windows Phone 8 is "working in progress" , IOS 6 in part revealed, but with some dark sides, to example on the support or less of the NFC chip.
Operating systems must equivalent offer the same basic functions with a few exceptions, from the UI with very different characteristics and approach (icons, icons + widgets, live tiles), supporting the aforementioned NFC, with a penalty for Microsoft App ecosystem is still limited to 100 000 (fast-growing but still objectively away from other stores already at an altitude of 600 000).
These and other features are summarized in the table below, which absolutely does not want to find a winner but it focuses on a precise and accurate diagram of all the major features that users want to have on your terminal, beyond the design and cost of the device to mount them, or will in the future. Here it is (waiting BB10):

HTC's Windows Phone 8 roadmap unveiled - Three new devices coming ( Zenith , Rio and Accord )

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, June 21, 2012 | 13:56

The statements of CEO Peter Chou on the arrival of the new Windows Phone 8 smartphones by the end of the year quickly followed the first rumors about the composition consisting of line-up . According to recent rumors the range  HTC Windows Phone 8 devices may be formed of three models: Zenith, the top end of the range,Accord,medium-high end smartphones, and close to the line-up, Rio , the model medium-low.
The models name is a code and, as often happens, it will change with the commercial version of the device.
Recalling that the information that we bring to those not yet final, we move immediately to examine the alleged technical specifications of each model after the break.
Zenith as, in advance, will be the top of the range of 8 to HTC Windows Phone. The specifications would include:
  • Display 4.7 "SuperLCD 2 720p
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (unspecified)
  • 8 Megapixel Camera
  • Connectivity 42 Mbps HSPA +
Close behind are the Accord, the model of a medium-high, characterized by:
  • Display 4.3 "LCD Super 2 720p
  • Dual-core processor Qualcom MSM8260a (likely because of variation)
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 8 megapixel camera with support for 1080p video
  • Connectivity 42 Mbps HSPA +
  • NFC support
Close the Accord is Rio which is mid to low end device ,which specifications could include:
  • Display: 4 "WVGA
  • Processor Qualcomm MSM8227 (given susceptible of variation)
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • HSPA 14.4Mbps
  • 5 megapixel camera with support for video in 720p
The line-up in the complex is consistent with the approach used by HTC's recent production of the line terminals Android HTC One. The relationship between Zenith and Accord are modeled in some way those between HTC and HTC X One One D: same camera, different form factor, quad-core devices for high-end dual-core to medium-high. The Rio would have a positioning similar to that of HTC One V.
Deliveries of all three devices are expected by year end: Rio and Accord may be submitted in October , while the top of the range the term was generally identified in the ' last quarter of 2012 . Obviously the exact launch date of the three smartphone will be confirmed in the coming months and will be closely linked to the development of the platform Windows Phone 8.

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Friday, June 1, 2012 | 00:43

It's a little more than a rumor but insistent voices echo in the network. Unconfirmed sources reveal the presence of four different resolutions related to the upcoming Windows Phone 8.The operating system then support the resolution of 480 × 640, 480 × 800, 720 × 768 × 1280 and 1280.

The first configuration is certainly suitable for a device comprising a physical keyboard, while the rest may be associated with classical models completely touch used in recent years.
The higher resolution is rumored to exceed even the performance of the Retina display of the iPhone and its 326ppi, to 332, of course running on 4.5 inch devices.
It is confirmed also support WVGA, thus ensuring the total absence of obstacles when the operating system will be updated.

One of the features that come with Windows Phone 8 will be to make instant searching of content, at least according to insideris.com

Already last year we heard rumors that with the  arrival of Windows Phone Tango, wp users will have ability to use universal search by simply swiping your finger left to right on the home screen. Now we know the (few) features that implements this minor update we have confirmation that this rumor proved unfounded.
The insideris.com site claims to have received information about an anonymous informant that the instant search of the content will come with Windows Phone 8, this function will be enabled directly from the Windows Home Phone with a new icon similar to that found in the list screen applications.

With this option you can search the whole system that includes contacts, applications, games, music, messages, etc..

Survey - Windows Phone is the third platform chosen by the game developers with 8.8%

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Friday, May 25, 2012 | 02:48

The Game Developer Magazine has published the results of its latest survey for the developers of games on different mobile platforms.

From the findings it is clear that the developers of games for mobile devices are more focused on the Apple platform with 94.6%, to follow with 70.7% of developers are dedicated to the Google platform and in the third position with 8, 8% of the developers interested in the Microsoft platform.
The figure of Windows Phone is insignificant compared to the competition but keep in mind that the new system from Microsoft has a market share at the time, very small, about 2/3% worldwide.
From the graph we can see that the developers have now left BlackBerry, Symbian and Bada platforms despite having a greater number of devices.

Recall that because of the impossibility of using native code in Windows Phone from developers porting this limitation makes the rather complicated and laborious. Microsoft should fix this problem with future updates, especially with Windows Phone 8 (Apollo).

Nokia Phi: Nokia's first smartphone with Windows Phone 8 peeps in WPBench?

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, May 24, 2012 | 01:54

A screenshot of WPBench , the well-known benchmark dedicated to all Windows Phone, might have revealed the code name of the alleged first Nokia smartphone based on Windows Phone 8 . The following information must obviously be considered within the assumptions based on the analysis of the screenshot that in addition to the name of the device, also shows the version number of the OS, far enough from the current so as to be deemed a the first test release of Windows Phone 8.
The screenshot shows that we show in the opening two very interesting indications: "Nokia Phi ", the purported code name of the new Nokia device, and " OS OS 8.0.9698.0 ", the software release used by the device. To have a benchmark on the number of releases is sufficient to consider that the recent Nokia Lumia 900 , recently arrived on the shelves of British shops with Tango on board, adopts the version 7.10.8773.98. It 's fair to assume that the software release that is referenced WPBench can refer to the first device from Nokia WP8.
Further details on the Windows operating system will emerge Phone 8 on June 20 at the official launch of the new major release of the platform. In the meantime it is possible that Nokia, the leading partner of Microsoft, has already begun to prepare the prototypes of the smartphones to be released at the end of 2012

First Nokia Phone with Windows 8 coming later this year?

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, May 17, 2012 | 05:32

The official announcement of Windows Phone 8 is closer. Microsoft should present the new version of its smartphone operating system on 20 June, during the Windows Phone Developer Summit. Meanwhile, as has been reported on an Israeli website, a Nokia spokesman would announce that the first Lumia Phone with Windows Phone 8 will hit the market later this year, with full support for Hebrew language.
Obviously it is not news that Nokia will lead the market with Windows Phone Lumia 8, but can be a good starting point to begin to imagine a very hot Christmas.

Windows Phone 8 build numbers revealed

The long-awaited Windows Phone 8, scheduled for later this year, is beginning to be talked assiduously on many blogs and this time it does show the versions of the operating system that Microsoft is testing before release.

The Russian site WP7Forum.ru has published the full list of releases for the next update Windows Phone 8. As we can see from above, starting from version 8.0.9666.0 to version 8.0.9688.0. The source notes that the different versions are running on emulators, but have been installed for the various tests of real phones. We hope to soon receive official information regarding the date of issue, if there is only a beta version for developers, and especially if this update can be installed on every smartphone on the market today.

LG abandons Windows Phone, will focus on Android Phones for now

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Monday, April 30, 2012 | 05:57

In the past few hours LG told the Korea Herald had no future plans regarding Windows Phone based smartphones, noting thatThe total units of Windows Phone sold in the global market is not a significant figure. " .
The interview with the Herald, however, continued reassurance by LG will continue its efforts on research and development for the Microsoft system.
From these words it can be assumed then a long pause where LG will not launch any Windows smartphone, probably jumping the launch of Windows Phone 8 and waiting for a "silent" eventual success of the OS made in Redmond.
LG then leave in the hands of Nokia, Samsung and HTC the fate of Windows Phone, a major loss for the mobile OS where the cheapest devices were precisely those of the Korean manufacturer.
