Google officially completes acquisition of Motorola!

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 | 07:20

The acquisition of Motorola by Google has been officially completed for the hyperbolic figure of 12.5 billion dollars. The world giant of Web search giant has acquired the worldwide mobile communications for 80 years is a leader in its field and has always innovated and produced devices for telecommunications. Although, probably, the brand Motorola was not always in the spotlight, it must be said that in many devices were also successful components Motorola, which are synonymous with reliability and experience.
With the completion of the acquisition of Motorola , Google can sleep definitely more relaxed, because now Android  can enjoy some "protection" due to the numerous Motorola patentsAfter receiving the green light from ' Europe , Google has had to wait so that the Chinese would give her "permission" to the acquisition, permission granted just after this weekend.
Below you can see the  official statement from Larry Page , CEO of Google.

The phones in our pockets have become supercomputers that are changing the way we live. It’s now possible to do things we used to think were magic, or only possible on Star Trek–like get directions right from where we are standing; watch a video on YouTube; or take a picture and share the moment instantly with friends.
It’s why I’m excited to announce today that our Motorola Mobility deal has closed. Motorola is a great American tech company that has driven the mobile revolution, with a track record of over 80 years of innovation, including the creation of the first cell phone. We all remember Motorola’s StarTAC, which at the time seemed tiny and showed the real potential of these devices. And as a company who made a big, early bet on Android, Motorola has become an incredibly valuable partner to Google.
Sanjay Jha, who was responsible for building the company and placing that big bet on Android, has stepped down as CEO. I would like to thank him for his efforts and am tremendously pleased that he will be working to ensure a smooth transition as long-time Googler Dennis Woodside takes over as CEO of Motorola Mobility.
I’ve known Dennis for nearly a decade, and he’s been phenomenal at building teams and delivering on some of Google’s biggest bets. One of his first jobs at Google was to put on his backpack and build our businesses across the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and Russia. More recently he helped increase our revenue in the U.S. from $10.8 billion to $17.5 billion in under three years as President of the Americas region. Dennis has always been a committed partner to our customers and I know he will be an outstanding leader of Motorola. As an Ironman triathlete, he’s got plenty of energy for the journey ahead–and he’s already off to great start with some very strong new hires for the Motorola team.
It’s a well known fact that people tend to overestimate the impact technology will have in the short term, but underestimate its significance in the longer term. Many users coming online today may never use a desktop machine, and the impact of that transition will be profound–as will the ability to just tap and pay with your phone. That’s why it’s a great time to be in the mobile business, and why I’m confident Dennis and the team at Motorola will be creating the next generation of mobile devices that will improve lives for years to come.

Nokia-branded WP Marketplace spotted in latest Nokia Lumia 900 software update

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Thursday, May 10, 2012 | 13:38

We continue to discover new details in the Nokia Lumia 900 that can be bought today in the United Kingdom . Among the changes noted in the operating system (Tango) that powers the device now we can see that the Microsoft's Windows Phone Marketplace on the Lumia 900 is now being branded with Nokia's own logo. The news itself is not so ground shacking, but it's one of the first signs of Nokia's influence on the Windows Phone operating system.
According to the image at the beginning it seems that Nokia could have started using its privilege to make customizations to windows phone UI. The hypothesis that Nokia has begun to make customizations to the UI of Windows Phone is definitely interesting.
At the moment Nokia, like other producers who have chosen the Windows Phone platform, has a space in the official Markeplace that contains the unique applications for the device and the hypothesized Lumia store of the original agreement has not yet been realized.
The customization of the icon contained in the Marketplace software Lumia 900 does not prove the existence of the store, but it represents another small area of freedom granted to the Finnish manufacturer which hopefully others will follow.

If you are looking for sheets to be dizzy and did not get enough RAM, the new  LG Optimus LTE2 might be the right solution for you. It is in fact the first smartphone with 2GB of RAM. A huge amount, in some respects even exaggerated, though that may offer greater compatibility with future Android updates that require very high specification (if they will update).
Now come the first images of this device, which incorporates part of the line and the design seen on Optimus 4X adding LTE connectivity and changing the processor.

The main features are:
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 Processor
  • ICS
  • True HD Display with 4.7 IPS
  • 2GB of RAM

  • 2150 mAhBattery
  • Reload Wireless
  • LTE

As you've read has really interesting features and user interface level we find the LG customization similar to that seen on the models presented ICS Android at MWC 2012.Remains very much doubt if the ram can serve and improve performance. Certainly the risk of losing any volatile memory should be excluded. No information at the time of arrival in Europe.

Windows Phone Tango update being pushed out for HTC Mozart (Updated)

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Sunday, May 6, 2012 | 08:14

It seems that the much-discussed update to Windows Phone Tango is being released at this very hour, to report it is Aviraj Ajgekar, Technology Evangelist for Microsoft writing on his  technet blog that his unlocked HTC Mozart  received an update that upgraded his HTC Mozart to  software version 7.10.8779.8.

You acknowledge that you have received as many as 3 consecutive updates to bring your own device, the shift has seen these different versions, build 8112.7 -> 8773.98 -> 8779.8.Despite this, the download time of several updates is quite low, probably because Windows Phone Tango does not offer a significant number of new features.,mostly some fixes and updates to the OS (mostly around enhancing MMS).

Update: Aviraj has deleted the post from his blog and no one else is reportedly getting this update. Is yet another Microsoft employee being misinformed or was this an internal update for testing?

Apple and Samsung share the 99% of the profits of the global smartphone market

Posted by ~ Erch ~ on Friday, May 4, 2012 | 10:19

Horace Dediu of Asymco has made available the data in its possession about the operating profits extracted from the eight major manufacturers of smartphones in the world in the first quarter of 2012 and from that data we can see Apple and Samsung flying high.
It seems, in fact, that Apple and Samsung together possess 99% of total industry revenue , with Apple that makes the lion's share with its significant 73%, although its share has declined slightly, compared to 75% the previous quarter. Samsung, meanwhile, has increased its share from 16% to 26%, totally demolishing all other manufacturers.
Among the eight companies taken into account, as well as Apple and Samsung, we are HTC, RIM, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia. Among these, HTC holds 1% of the total profits of the market,
the other five have not been able to profit from the production of mobile handsets in Q1 2012 .
The exponential growth of Apple and Samsung at the expense of all other major producers in a market that continues to grow dramatically, registering an increasing number of worldwide sales. Just think of the total profit generated by the market, rose from $ 5.3 billion two years ago to $ 14.4 billion this year, registering an increase approaching 200% .

Will the innovations introduced by the other giants to dethrone Apple and Samsung from this position of undisputed leader , despite the recent launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the upcoming iPhone 5?
